Pricing/Tobacco Taxes
We think you will find our pricing of individual cigars to be fair, consistent, and competitive. We never gouge when pricing hard-to-get cigars. And we automatically price all boxes of cigars with a 10% discount, except when prohibited by a cigar manufacturer. On April 1, 2009, a new federal cigar tax went into effect. This tax, paid by cigar manaufacturers, potentially increases the cost of a cigar about $.55 ($.40 of federal tax plus the compounding effect of NY State tobacco and sales taxes). However, many manufacturers are choosing to pass along less than the entire $.40. Some are electing to absorb the entire tax on some or all of their products. At Nyack Tobacco Company, we will increase our prices only when our suppliers increase their cost to us and only by the amount they pass along to us. |
